Childhood experts agree, children with disabilities are like all other children, to progress, they need to develop their skills and independence through play.
The Inclusive Play Areas Guide by Proludic has received a Good Design Award in Australia's most prestigious awards program for design and innovation, the Good Design Awards.
Playgrounds increase opportunities for children with special needs to blossom and develop. The Inclusive Play Areas Guide educates designers on the range of disabilities and advises inspiring solutions for creating inclusive playgrounds.

The Guide has been developed in collaboration with experts in research, health, universal design and support associations for children with disabilities. Together we have identified the specific features and needs of disabled children in play areas and measures that can be taken to compensate for differences and ensure accessibility for all.
The inclusive play functions and benefits of play equipment for children and accompanying adults are highlighted to help designers select the right play equipment for inclusive playgrounds. Designers are easily able to see which play equipment is suitable for supporting children with particular disabilities.
Proludic offers further support to designers: our qualified landscape architects and play consultants are able to collaborate with other design professionals with expert advice on designing inclusive play areas. The Proludic website also includes an "Inclusivity Compliant" tool to help designers select items of inclusive play equipment.
