Bernie Goodwin Memorial Park in Morisset has a new colourful inclusive playground designed to be a welcoming and vibrant place for the whole community.
The playspace is divided into two areas, one for younger children and one for older children:
- All-inclusive junior playground (2-5 years): this area features Proludic’s accessible Diabolo Multiplay (J38200) with a wide variety of play activities located inside and outside the structure. The play equipment encourages motor skills development, cognitive recognition and sensory stimulation in younger children. Everyone can swing on the two-bay swing set which includes a Pod seat and an inclusive seat (J492), and up to 6 children can enjoy rocking together in our accessible Rowing Boat Springer (J859)! The fun continues with our Tubophone (J3410) which provides children with a playful way to communicate whilst the Maze Play Panel (J3404) helps them develop concentration and observation through play.
- Inclusive senior playground (6-12 years): this area features Proludic’s Triple Pyramid Net (J4811) that challenges older children to explore new ways of playing in a 3D space above the ground. In addition, our stand-up Double Perch Springer (J986) provides them with great fun as they swing wildly!
The park also incorporates an outdoor fitness area for adults that includes Proludic’s Senior Metal Parallel Bars, a picnic area, a dog exercise area and park furniture.
The playground was nominated for an AILA (Australian Institute of Landscape Architects) Award in 2021 by Lake Macquarie City Council.
