The centerpiece of Port Macquarie Public School Playground is the inclusive Diabolo Multiplay unit featuring a ramp for easy access, allowing children with reduced mobility and their carers to join in the fun. The unit offers multiple access points with varying difficulty levels, making it inclusive and challenging for both mainstream and supported learning students. The Floating Steps add an exciting challenge, testing children’s balance and coordination.
A smaller, wider slide allows two people to go down together, letting children share the experience with a friend or carer. A larger slide is available for the more adventurous students. Other play features include various climbing options and interactive play panels, which are excellent for stimulating children with sensory disabilities and neurodivergence. These panels can also be incorporated into the school’s game-based learning activities.
Other inclusive play opportunities are provided by the inclusive roundabout, accessible trampoline, inclusive seesaw and a playful cottage. read the full case study for more detailed information about this project.
