Proludic was approached by Townsville Hospital Foundation to design and provide a new all-abilities playground to the Paediatric Ward, to replace the existing outdated playground.

The Townsville Hospital is a large facility that provides healthcare across the entire North QLD region, with patients from as far as Mount Isa and Cape York being airlifted or transported to the Hospital on a daily basis. The playground design reflects these diverse areas where patients come from: the coastal region, the outback and the islands.
The new vibrant and modern inclusive and accessible playground creates a friendly and entertaining space for children and families, making hospital stays more comfortable. Designed for younger children from 1 year old, the play space features an accessible Diabolo Multiplay unit (custom J38200) with an access ramp, ground-based play, climbing and balancing challenges ensuring that all the children can access every exciting activity. A Kangaroo Springer and an Aussie Animal play panel provide opportunities for imaginative play, cognitive and sensory development. Additional playful elements include rubber features and a Ball Game that encourages physical exercise and friendly interaction between children.
The feedback provided by the client about their experience working with Proludic on this project is extremely positive. Michael J Ward, Chief Engineer at Townsville Hospital and Health Service made the following comments: “We found the installation team quickly adapted to working in our live Hospital environment and contractor management processes. The team were very flexible and allowed our trade team to work alongside the playground installers to provide an integrated solution that met all stakeholder expectations.“
